Elite forces to secure the conference

Security anticipation of the upcoming 9th ASEAN
(Association of South East Asian Nations) summit in Bali
has significantly increased with the establishment of ‘elite’
troops in Bali’s vital perimeter. Ngurah Rai International
airport,
Bali’s main gate is constantly under 24 hour’s surveillance
and many other vital targets that are potential to terrorist threats.

confirmed the extra-security measures within this vital location.
However she underlined that police are not working single-handedly
upon this matter. The national army has been greatly involved and
so does the national intelligent to perform the security. Within
the airport it-self there will be a greater security measure with
bomb detectors installed and a thorough check up to every vehicle
entering the airport vicinity. 22 police so far has been assigned
to improve the airport security with support of all KP3 units (airport
units) that currently working under 3 shifts of work.
Without generally counting the elite troops, there are more than
50 personnel inside Bali’s main gate with more are expected
to be assigned within few days.
Meanwhile, security surrounding the Kuta Beach
area, as the main tourist destination
in Bali
can
be seen clearly with the establishment of police patrols, equipped
with golf cart or bikes to provide greater access within the area.
Mrs Sri Yudayati further comment “there are no terrorist threats
thus far but we are on a high level of anticipation to the upcoming
summit”. |
